I’m a Councillor, Get me out of Here! is a youth engagement event where school students talk to their local councillors online for two weeks. It’s in the form of an X Factor style competition between the councillors, who compete to be the council’s Youth Champion.
For two weeks students read about the councillors, what they do, and what they plan to do, ask them questions, and engage in live text chats with them. The students vote for the councillor they want to represent them. The councillors with the fewest votes are evicted until only one is left to be crowned the winner. The event is supported by carefully developed and tested teaching resources which develop students’ skills and deepen their understanding.
Participating councils will recieve a fil evaluation report for their event. The most recent full evaluation of the event as a whole is from 2008. You can download it here: IAC2008 – Event Evaluation Report – General [PDF, 1Mb]
